About University
The University is known as federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "Orenburg State Medical University" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. OrSMU was established in August, 1944 by the Russian Federation. The authority of the Founder is exercised by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Former name of the University was Medical Institute Chkalov.
University constitutes about 47 departments with 300+ professors, associate professors and doctors, who are highly skilled & qualified professionals.
The University is now counted as one of the leading Medical Universities in Russia famous for its Medical educational standards, Students’ living facilities, Rankings and other privileges. Orenburg State Medical University provides accommodation to all the international students. It holds about 1500+ vacant places for graduate students to stay.
Especially for post-graduate students OrSMU has- five-storey building with a basement dorm (335 places to stay), five-storey dormitory building with a built-in premise with basement (447 places to stay) and nine hostel buildings built with Orenburg State Medical Academy with basement (569 places to stay).
Foreign students are provided with a living place in double or three-man rooms at students’ campus with access control in the centre of the city.
As far as dining is concerned, Indian students at Orenburg State Medical University can enjoy the Indian delicacies in hostels’ mess or else they can cook for themselves, accordingly.
Training Facilities / Hospitals
- University provides training to all its students enrolled for Post-graduation at its various clinical bases or hospitals. In these clinical bases, theoretical classes are also conducted along with practical training of the students

Sport club runs 12 sports leagues such as aerobics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, athletics, table tennis, skiing, chess, etc.
